Nentan was a barren wasteland of a planet in the Glythe sector. The only point of interest on the planet was an ancient city of ruins of an unknown, disappeared alien civilization.

"He led the Rebel commandos in the assault on the Imperial bunker on Endor, was an important part of the Echo Base command structure on Hoth, and was responsible for saving countless civilian lives at the Battle of Nentan."
Voren Na'al, about Bren Derlin[src]

During the expansion to the New Territories by the Galactic Republic, the planet was an unsuccessful trading rival to Ord Mantell.[7]

Sometime after the destruction of the first Death Star,[8] Nentan was the site of a Rebel base under the command of Carlist Rieekan, serving as a stopover for liberated civilians seeking asylum from the Empire. At the Nentan checkpoint, these civilians awaited transportation to Rebel safeworlds.[5] Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan also supported the effort at Nentan with the Tantive IV.[2] The Nentan base was only two months old when it was discovered by Imperial forces and assaulted during the Battle of Nentan. Thanks to ingenious, if not unorthodox, tactics employed by Captain Bren Derlin, all military personnel and civilians were safely evacuated from the planet, earning Derlin's promotion to Major.[5]

The planet would be captured and occupied by the Yuuzhan Vong during their attack on the galaxy.[2]

Bron Burs was born on Nentan.
