The New Muckworks was a chemical processing facility built on the planet Nal Hutta that was designed to filter any valuable compounds out of the chemicals and liquid pollutants in the waters of the planet's swamps. Whatever chemicals remained after the processing were returned back to the swamp water.
Built several decades before 3643 BBY to replace the Jiguuna Muckworks, the New Muckworks were constructed to the west of the town of Jiguuna, but a critical failure occurred shortly after the facility went online, crippling the New Muckworks. As a result, the Jiguuna Muckworks, which had become known as the "Old Muckworks," returned to active use.
