The New Territories was the northernmost region of the galaxy. It shared borders with the Unknown Regions westward, the Interior southward, and the Slice eastward.[7] During the Clone Wars, part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems's territory stretched from the New Territories to Hutt Space.[8]

The New Territories region originated in the 2009 Legends reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[9]
