Nippers were carnivorous creatures native to Lutrillia, a planet which was located in the Yarith sector of the Outer Rim Territories. They lived underground and often attacked vehicles that were disabled in the deserts of the planet while en route between the mobile cities used by the native Lutrillians. The combined damages from the nippers, chompers, and other subterranean creatures caused mechanical components to be an important commodity on Lutrillia.[1]

Nippers were first mentioned in "Galactic Gazetteer: Hoth and the Greater Javin," an article written for the revised edition of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast. The article was released on Wizards.com on March 25, 2004, and was written by Craig R. Carey, Jason Fry, and Daniel Wallace. The nippers were mentioned in the article's Lutrillia entry.[1]
