Niran was a world[2] located within the Niran system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Tunka sector.[1] It was the homeworld of the Human Viran Qol.[2]
At some point by 3 ABY,[3] Qol was enrolled in a civil engineering program on Niran. The day after his graduation, Niran was invaded by the Galactic Empire. Qol became involved with the Niran Resistance less than a week later and eventually became a major with the Rebel Alliance Special Forces.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Niran was first mentioned in "Imperial Garrisons," a 1997 roleplaying game source article written by Timothy S. O'Brien and published in the twelfth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Niran system, and therefore the world Niran, within grid square I-18.[4]
