The Noetikon of Science was a treasured Jedi artifact of the Jedi Order by the time of the Great Galactic War. It was one of a number of Noetikons that was Holocron style devices that were imprinted with the knowledge, wisdom and personality of the greatest Jedi Masters in the Order. This included a complete list of every known biological, chemical and technological diseases. Infused within the Noetikon were the minds of Masters Tharis Orne, Arca Jeth and Vandar Tokare with the latter two regularly engaging in arguments over scientific knowledge. These heated arguments tended to be frustrating for those that activated the Noetikon with the last user deactivating it in order to end the argument between Masters Jeth and Tokare.
It was stored in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant until the Great Galactic War. During the Sacking of Coruscant, the temple was destroyed; this led to the Noetikons becoming lost. The Noetikon fell into the hands of Gand scavengers by the time of the Cold War. At this time, a mysterious Force related sickness had infected Master Yuon Par and an unidentified Jedi Consular went on a quest to recover the Noetikons to find a cure.
This Jedi managed to consult with the Noetikon of Science with its three Jedi Masters going through their storehouse of knowledge. However, they were unable to identify the illness or provide a cure. Instead, they suggested that the Consular seek the Noetikon of Light for a possible answer.
