The Nomad Mountains, also known as the Thaos Mountains, were a forested mountain range on the planet Corellia.[1][8]
History[]
In the northern part of the mountains lay the city of Doaba Guerfel, which was originally a private resort simply known as Nomad's Retreat.[1][8]
During the Galactic Civil War, Jareck Arned had a home in the mountains where he lived a solitary life.[6] Around the same time, Myron Beech was organizing hiking trails in the Thaos Mountains.[7] After Battle of Yavin, psychotic cave-dwellers captured two groups of hikers in the Thaos Mountains.[3] They were finally rescued by the Corellian Security Force.[10]
The Nomad greatcoat was a traditional outfit of the inhabitants of the Nomad Mountains.[8]
Behind the scenes[]
The Nomad Mountains first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[11] Its name was revealed in the description of the city of Doaba Guerfel that was shown to players on the screen that allowed them to choose the starting location for a new character.[12] These description texts were removed when Mos Eisley was made the starting city for all players with the release of the "Publish 17" on May 26, 2005.[13] However, in the same game, the mountains around Doaba Guerfel were identified as the Thaos Mountains in the planetary regions of Corellia.[1]
