- "I was too young to understand that my mother and my father and my uncle had become living shields."
- ―Numa, reflecting on the Battle of Ryloth
A female individual was the mother of the Twi'lek Numa,[3] who was born four years before the outbreak of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance.[4] Alongside Numa and her father,[3] the mother lived within in a home of the small city of Nabat, located on the Twi'lek home planet Ryloth.[4] Later, during the war in 22 BBY,[5] Ryloth was invaded by the Confederacy's droid armies, which led to an attack on Nabat in time.[4]
In the attack, Numa's mother was gathered alongside several other citizens, including her father and uncle. As a result, they were utilized by the Confederacy as living shields[3] against the Republic during their liberation of the planet.[4] However, Numa's mother was killed, along with her father,[2] by the Separatists at some before Nabat's liberation[6] in 21 BBY.[5] Several years after the rise of the Galactic Empire, Numa reflected on her family's use as living shields during the war by the Confederacy.[3]
