Nydak Alpha were a rare subspecies of the Nydak species, an alpha predator native to the Outer Rim planet Dathomir. Isolated but relentless, the beast was more ferocious than a regular nydak.

Biology and appearance

The Nydak Alpha's bones were hardened and rich in nutrients, covered by a resistant hide, making it impossible to severe its arms.[1]

Behavior

Due to the Nydak Alpha's resilient bones and hide, their forearms were deadly in combat, more so than their nydak counterparts. In combat, the Nydak Alpha utilized both intellect and strength to defend against multiple parries. Their forearms also made for versatile climbing and asymmetrical traversal.[1]

History

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

During the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis' mission to rebuild the Jedi Order[1] in the year 14 BBY,[2] he encountered and killed a Nydak Alpha in the Nightmare Ruins on Dathomir.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Nydak Alpha first appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developed by Respawn Entertainment. In the game, the beast serves as one of the four "mysterious creatures" that the player needs to defeat in order to achieve 100% game completion.[1]
