Following the end of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire occupied the planet Raxus Secundus, the former capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[3] During the occupation, a planet-wide curfew was put in effect, and numerous senators opposing the occupation were arrested, including Avi Singh.[3]
Prelude[]
During the Clone Wars, Raxus had served as the capital planet of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Separatist senators would meet in the planet's capital city of Raxulon to debate political matters.[4] Upon the dissolution of the Separatist Alliance and the end of the war, Raxus fell under the rule of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire.[3]
The occupation[]
The fledgling Empire quickly moved to establish an occupation force on the planet. The planet's capital city, Raxulon, saw a significant Imperial presence due to the civil unrest caused by the Empire's occupation. In an effort to quell the populace's outrage, Captain Bragg, who had been put in charge of the occupation, forced the Raxus senator Avi Singh to profess his loyalty to the Empire and convince Raxulon's citizens to accept the occupation. Instead, Singh publicly defied the Empire, which caused a riot to erupt. Imperial stormtroopers, along with several AT-TEs, moved in to suppress the rioters, and a planet-wide curfew was put in place. Singh's droid, GS-8, contacted the rogue mercenary clone squad, Clone Force 99, to arrange for the senator's rescue and extraction.[3]
The "Bad Batch" soon arrived on the planet to begin their mission. Though the squad rescued Singh, they were soon discovered by the Imperials, leading to a fierce firefight in the streets against clone stormtroopers. Hijacking an AT-TE, the squad rode to the city's outer walls and escaped through a secret passage, successfully extracting Avi Singh from the planet. Despite Singh's rescue, Raxus continued to remain under Imperial occupation.[3]
