"They are gentle giants with little technology, preferring to stay on their watery homeworld."
―An artist's journal entry on the Octeroids[4]

Octero IV was a watery Outer Rim Territories astronomical object. It was home to the Octeroid species, members of which needed to use breathing apparatuses when traveling off-world. The smuggler Glaucus hailed from Octero IV.

Description[]

"For those who have chosen to explore the galaxy, a breathing apparatus has been developed so they can survive in foreign atmospheres."
―An artist's journal entry on the Octeroids[4]

Octero IV,[4] also known simply as Octero,[1] was a watery celestial body[4] located in the regions known as the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors.[2] It was situated in grid square P-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid, and the hyperspace route[1] known as the Llanic Spice Run[3] connected it to the astronomical objects Socorro and Vorlag.[1]

History[]

The Octeroid smuggler Glaucus[5] hailed from Octero IV, a fact that was noted in the posting of a bounty issued for[6] him[5] by the time of the First Order occupation of the planet Batuu[6] in 34 ABY.[7] At one point, Octero IV was also mentioned in an entry of an artist's journal dedicated to the Octeroids. The journal was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive[4] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[8]

Inhabitants[]

"The aquatic Octeroids are known galaxywide for their striking appearance and simple lifestyle."
―An entry of an artist's journal[4]

Octero IV was the homeworld of the aquatic, sentient Octeroid species, who generally led a simple lifestyle and preferred to lead their lives there as opposed to off-world. Those Octeroids who did leave Octero IV used a breathing apparatus to cope with foreign atmospheres.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Octero IV was introduced in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Alien Archive by Natalie Clubb and Katrina Pallant.[4] A shortened version of the celestial body's name was introduced on a map[1] created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[9] of May 26 through 29, 2022[10] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[11] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[12]

StarWars Where in the Galaxy Are the Worlds of Rogue One? on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) identifies one of the routes on a galactic map, while Star Wars Galaxy Map places Octero IV on the other route; therefore, the celestial body must lie on the Llanic Spice Run.

  7. The Star Wars Book dates the Battle of Batuu, which is depicted in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge via the attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, to 34 years after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 34 ABY per Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. Therefore the events of Galaxy's Edge in general, which includes the events of Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters, must also take place that year.
  8. Star Wars: Alien Archive, which is presented as a restored in-universe journal, mentions Poe Dameron's mutiny against Amilyn Holdo, which is depicted in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. The Star Wars Book places the events of The Last Jedi in the same year as the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY, meaning the document must have been published at some point no earlier than that year.
