An officer's disk, also known as an identity disk, was an identification device used by the military of the Galactic Empire. Those disks were placed on the command cap and belt buckle of Imperial officer's uniform. They took the form of a metallic stepped cone appearing to be three disks stacked on top of one another.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The officer's disks were in fact aluminium pulleys from a model of high-end turntable manufactured by J. A. Mitchell Corporation. The company, whose premises were located in Borehamwood near Elstree Studios, was a frequent source of small metal "greeblies" such as these.
