- "You were saying, Administrator…"
"Only that LaSal's rank plaque insignia and command cap disk looked legitimate." - ―Moff Wilhuff Tarkin and a tanker administrator
An officer's disk, also known as an identity disk, was an identification device used by the navy officers and Clone navigation officers of the Galactic Republic and later by the military of the Galactic Empire. Those disks were placed on the command cap and belt buckle of Imperial officer's uniform.[1] They took the form of a metallic stepped cone appearing to be three disks stacked on top of one another.[2] As part of their own, Imperial-inspired uniforms, the Sith Eternal also made use of officer's disks.[11]
Behind the scenes[]
The officer's disks were in fact aluminium pulleys from a model of high-end turntable manufactured by J. A. Michell Corporation. The company, whose premises were located in Borehamwood near Elstree Studios, was a frequent source of small metal "greeblies" such as these.[12]
