Ommin[2] was a male individual affiliated with the Sith who ruled as a king long before the time of the war between the First Order and the Resistance. He was recorded as having worn a mechanical spine known as an Ommin harness.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Ommin was mentioned in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Edition, the 2020 novelization of the film of the same name. While the novelization does not explicitly provide the king's name,[1] the audiobook of the novelization uses a slight variation in wording, implying the Ommin harness was named after the king.[2]
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Ommin was a king of the planet Onderon. He was first mentioned in the second issue of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic miniseries, written by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Chris Gossett, and published by Dark Horse Comics[3] on November 16, 1993.[4] He first appeared in the first issue of the comic series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Freedon Nadd Uprising, written by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Tony Akins, and published by Dark Horse Comics[5] on August 2, 1994.[6]
