"One Warrior to Another" is the third episode of the anthology animated television series Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld. The episode premiered on May 4, 2025.[1]
Plot summary[]
Travelers in the desert[]
The episode opens with two winged creatures flying over a canyon. Asajj Ventress and Lyco Strata ride on a four legged creature through the canyon. Strata drinks from his canteen. Ventress reaches for hers but finds that it is empty. Lyco offers to share his canteen. She initially refuses but accepts it due to her thirst. However, she realizes it is empty. When Strata chuckles, she playfully hits him in the stomach with the canteen.
The two reach a homestead at the edge of the desert. Strata suggests asking them for help but Ventress is cynical that they will help them find the Hidden Path. The two dismount their steed outside a building that is guarded by three deactivated B1-series battle droids. Strata knocks on the door of the building. Someone opens a letter hole and Strata peers inside. He narrowly dodges a blaster that sprays the area with blaster fire.
The war veteran and his granddaughter[]
Ventress deflects the blaster bolts with her yellow lightsaber. She uses the Force to tear open the door. The two travelers find themselves facing a human girl. The girl tells her grandfather that the strangers are Jedi. The grandfather permits Ventress and Strata to enter his dwelling.
The two travelers find themselves facing an elderly human man on a repulsorlift chair. He is familiar with Ventress and orders his granddaughter to fetch the travelers some water. The granddaughter protests they have little water to share but complies and fills Ventress's canteen. Strata and Ventress discover several medals on display on the wall. When Ventress asks if their hosts are farmers, the old man says that it has been a change for people like them.
Ventress says that she does not understand what he is talking about but the man says that he is sure she does. He reassures her that they are among allies. Ventress disagrees and reaches for her lightsaber. The man disagrees and says that she served Count Dooku and that they are grateful for it. He address her as Lady Ventress.
The old man gazes out the window at the battle droids. He says it is a pity they lost the Clone Wars and wishes they had more flesh and blood warriors like Ventress instead of battle droids. When the man says that their side got it right, Ventress disagrees and says that both sides got it wrong. Strata asks the man if he knows the way to Cipher Canyon. The old man says it is difficult to find since it is not on a map.
The water expedition[]
The girl brushes past Strata and wields a blaster. The old man says that labor is scarce for their farm. While they are far away from the Galactic Empire, the old man says that water is scarce in this region and dangerous to retrieve it. He explains that the raiders got him the last time. Ventress and Strata turn away and wish the old man the best of luck. As they exit, the old man offers the services of his granddaughter in leading them to Cipher Canyon. He says that it is not far from the spring where she can collect water. The old man asks Ventress to protect his granddaughter as a fellow warrior.
Ventress eyes the young girl and Strata, who winks and smiles. Later, the girl pilots a landspeeder through a canyon while Ventress and Strata sit at the back. Water containers are attached to the side of the speeder. They park the speeder near a blue pool of water. Lyco and the girl submerge several containers inside the pool. Once the containers are full, they attach them to the sides of the speeder. Ventress keeps watch.
Before they can leave, the landspeeder breaks down. Ventress orders Strata to restart the vehicle while she and the girl stand guard. They sensed the ground quivering with movement. Just as Strata manages to restart the speeder, a gang of raiders riding speeder bikes reaches the edge of the ridge. At their leader's signal, the horde of raiders descends down the ridge in their bikes. The trio flee on their speeder through the canyon.
The raiders give chase. Lyco and Ventress use their lightsabers to deflect the raiders' blasts. Some of the raiders manage to jump onto the landspeeder and attempt to steal the containers. Ventress and Strata battle the boarders with their lightsabers. Strata knocks the mask of one of the aliens, revealing a green diminutive being. The unmasked raider jumps on a bike. The girl rams the bike with her speeder, knocking them off the vehicle.
Jedi diplomacy[]
The landspeeder crashes into a large rock. One of the containers begins leaking water from a hole. The girl pounds at it while the raiders converge on the trio. Before the girl can shoot one of the raiders, Strata uses the Force to grab her blaster out of her hand. He tells them to stop because they are stealing the raiders' water. Ventress asks if he can understand their language. Strata says he is a Jedi and lowers his weapon.
The leader of the raiders removes his mask and motions for Lyco to step forward. The girl eyes a wounded raider. Strata bows and kneels before the leader. He speaks with the raiders' leader in an unfamiliar alien language. Ventress and the girl walk over. He explains that sometimes they need to listen, something that he was taught as a Jedi. Ventress is skeptical the old man will listen. Strata suggests that Ventress can reason with the old man.
The old man is resting in his repulsorlift chair when he sees the raiders approaching. He aims his blaster at them but relents when he sees the speeder and Strata waving at him. As the group converge outside the homestead, the old man accuses Ventress and Strata of betraying him. Ventress counters that he had been stealing their water from the spring. The old man says that he and his daughter have as a much a right to the water as the alien raiders. Ventress responds that this thinking has gotten several of them killed and him injured.
The old man says this is war, prompting his granddaughter to look with fear. Ventress disagrees, saying that he has been fighting so long that he knows no other way. The old man points his blaster but his granddaughter touches his shoulder. Ventress offers to help resolve the water dispute without violence. The old man refuses to speak with the raiders, regarding them as animals. Lyco says he can speak with them while Ventress explains that Strata is a Jedi who can translate if he is willing to listen.
The old man is enraged to learn that Strata is a Jedi and levels his blaster at him. Ventress lowers his blaster and responds that Lyco is her friend. Strata looks to Ventress and smiles while the girl places her hand on her grandfather's shoulder. A raiders steps forward and says that he is willing to talk if the old man agrees. Strata translates. The old man contemplates and decides to hand over his blaster to Ventress. He turns to the raiders' leader and they share a look.
Cipher Canyon[]
Later, a raider leads Ventress, Strata and their four-legged steed through a canyon. Strata drinks from his canteen. Strata is optimistic the old man and the alien raiders will become friends but Ventress thinks that they could start fighting at the next rotation. Strata vouches for his negotiating skills. The alien leads them on his speeder bike towards a cave. The two travelers dismount as the alien leads them through a cave entrance.
Strata speaks with the alien. The cave leads to a canyon where they see a line of people entering a parked starship. Strata hops down the rock but stops when he notices that Ventress is not coming with him. He tries to invite his friend but she declines. When Strata suggests she could reunite with Quinlan Vos, Ventress responds that she has moved on. She tells Strata to board the ship since that is his path as a Jedi. As Strata heads to the ship, she says "May the Force be with you."
She exits the cave and reunited with her four legged steed. She mounts the creature and rides off while the starship soars over the canyon into space. Ventress speeds the creature on a gallop. She is interrupted by Lyco, who tells Ventress that he decided to stay with her. When Ventress says she wishes he was on that ship, Strata says that he decided that it was better to be with her. He passes her canteen but she tosses it away. They gallop into the desert.
