Oovo 4, also known as Oovo Four, was a high-security prison moon located near asteroid-strewn space. The Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft was designed for the task of guarding the moon, as a unique craft was needed for the job.

In the time of the Galactic Republic at some point by 32 BBY, the famed Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett stole the Firespray-31 Slave I from Oovo 4.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Oovo 4 was home to the Oovo Four detention center. After Juahir Madras, a bodyguard instructor at the Yinchom Dojo on the planet Coruscant, was arrested for convincing her trainees to attack and occasionally murder of several senators in the Imperial Senate they were tasked with protecting, she was imprisoned at the detention center. While there, Madras sent at least twenty messages to her friend Arihnda Pryce, governor of the planet Lothal.

Sometime around 9 ABY, Oovo 4 was operated by the New Republic. The Zabrak Thene Kross was listed as being sentenced to thirty years on Oovo 4 for grand theft starship and resisting arrest.

Description

Located near asteroid-strewn space, Oovo 4, also referred to as Oovo Four, was a high-security prison moon and was guarded by Kuat Systems Engineering's Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft. It was also the location of the Galactic Empire's detention center.

History

At some point by 32 BBY, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett stole a Firespray-31 from Oovo 4 and named it Slave I. Later, during the reign of the Galactic Empire, the moon became home to the Oovo Four detention center, and after bodyguard instructor Juahir Madras was arrested for convincing her trainees to both assault and murder Imperial Senators they were tasked with protecting, she was imprisoned at the detention center. While imprisoned, Madras sent at least twenty messages to her friend Governor Arihnda Pryce of the planet Lothal.

Around five years after the Battle of Endor, the New Republic controlled Oovo 4. The Zabrak Thene Kross was listed as being sentenced to thirty years on the moon for theft of starships and resisting arrest.

Behind the scenes

Oovo 4 was first mentioned, albeit indirectly, in the new Star Wars canon in Star Wars: Star Pilot, a 2015 children's book written by Laura Buller. The moon was later identified in the 2015 reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. It was alternatively referred to as Oovo Four in the 2017 novel Thrawn, authored by Timothy Zahn. Oovo 4 was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity via Star Wars: Episode I Racer, a 1999 LucasArts video game.
