For other uses, see Ottega.

Ottega was a celestial body[5] located in the Ottega system,[3] which featured the Ithorian sun[4] and was situated in the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the New Territories[2] as part of grid square M-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Ottega lay on a hyperspace route that linked it to the astronomical object Genassa[6] as well as the Outer Rim Territories celestial body Tsevuka.[1]

Ottega shared its name with the location known as the Port of Ottega[7] as well as the Ottegan silk textile,[8] the Ottegan charbake smelt necklace, and the article of clothing known as the Ottegan fibrion scarf.[9] Praster Ommlen, a monk of the Sacred Order of Ramulus and one-time weapons smuggler who was active in the wider galaxy[5] by 34 ABY[10] and was an Ottegan—a member of a genetic offshoot species of the Ottega system's Ithorians[3]hailed from Ottega.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

Ottega was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2019 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition.[5] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the short story "A Bitter Winter," written by Patricia A. Jackson and published in the February 1995 fifth issue of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine.[11] Stephen J. Sansweet's 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia then retroactively established that Ottega was one of the seventy-five planets of the Ottega system,[12] which had already been mentioned before in Bill Slavicsek's 1994 A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, Second Edition, Revised and Expanded.[13]
