"A local businessman is doing a deal with some people he's never done business with before and he doesn't trust them. He's asked us to send someone to meet him in the Lucky Despot and make sure the transaction goes smooth."
Peawp R'dawc, to a spacer[1]

Otwi Opawl was a male Bith businessman who lived on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] Opawl hired the services of the R'dawc Bodyguard Agency to protect him during a transaction in Mos Eisley. A spacer working for Peawp R'dawc was therefore tasked to meet the Bith businessman in the Lucky Despot cantina and protect him at all costs. The spacer escorted Otwi Opawl and effectively defended him during a subsequent attack.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Otwi Opawl was a non-player character appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Otwi Opawl was added to the game with the release of the "Publish 17", on May 26, 2005.[4] He was involved in the quests given by Peawp R'dawc to beginner players who had chosen a "brawler" career.[1] The "brawler" profession was later removed from the game upon the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[4] Peawp R'dawc's questline was widely revamped and Otwi Opawl was removed from these quests.[5]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
