Parnax was a male[2] of Human or Sith pureblood descent[3] who held the title of Sith Lord in the Sith Empire in the years before the Great Galactic War with the Galactic Republic. Parnax was deeply unpopular even among his own family, and he spent his brief career as a Sith betraying every one of his allies and accumulating a long list of powerful enemies.[2] Around 3683 BBY,[1] Parnax, believed by some to either have been incredibly arrogant or incredibly stupid, deliberately broke into the Dark Temple, a forbidden Sith structure on the planet Dromund Kaas that had been sealed for centuries, in search of the key to the Sith Emperor's power. Parnax recorded his experiences in a number of journals, chronicling his descent into madness as he found himself unable to leave the Temple and discovered the Emperor's plans to extinguish all life in the galaxy. Parnax ultimately committed suicide, as he believed he could survive the coming darkness by merging with the Force.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Parnax was originally slated to be the focus of a Codex entry in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare, but the entry was removed before the game's release in 2011, and his species was never specified.[2]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 SWTOR mini.png STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic—The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY. Parnax entered the Dark Temple forty years before the game, which results in a date of 3683 BBY, though the actual date could be different.

  3. 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia establishes that prior to the end of the Great Galactic War, only Humans and Sith purebloods were permitted to undertake Sith training. Thus, this Sith can be assumed to be of one of those two species.
