- "The Jedi have come looking for the Path of the Open Hand, but they are too late. They did not heed our warning, and now they will pay the price—the price not of an open hand but a closed fist. Who walks the Path with me? Who walks the Path of the Closed Fist?"
- ―Marda Ro founds the Path of the Closed Fist
The Path of the Closed Fist was a sub-group of the Path of the Open Hand, a Force cult on Dalna that believed that no one, especially the Jedi, should use the Force.[2] It was founded shortly before the battle known as the Night of Sorrow, by the Guide of the Path of the Open Hand Marda Ro, who became the Guide of the Closed Fist. It took the Path of the Open Hand's beliefs to a violent extreme, attacking and making war against the Jedi in the Night of Sorrow and using both a large arsenal of weaponry and Nameless creatures that preyed upon Force-sensitives against them.[1] Members included Binnot Ullo.[2]

As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Quest for the Hidden City and the end of Phase II to 382 BBY, Phase II of The High Republic, which includes The High Republic: Cataclysm, must be set in that year.
