- "Stories have emerged of a supership disguised as a space rock. I'm not going to throw them out, but I emphasize that our source inside Patriim is unreliable."
- ―Haxen Delto, in a report addressed to Airen Cracken
The Patriim system was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Seswenna sector and included the planet Patriim. The Galactic Empire had operations in the star system, with a source from the system spreading rumors to the rival Rebel Alliance about a dreadnought disguised as an asteroid being produced there.
The Empire also made major tactical deployments to the Patriim system by 1 BBY as part of the Death Star superweapon's construction. The Alliance caught wind of and began investigating these deployments. After coming under the custody of the Alliance during the Galactic Civil War, the Imperial Captain Ralchio Nervi alleged that there was a superweapon being built in the Patriim system. Nervi's captors did reconnaissance in the system, but did not find any superweapons.
Description[]
- "Major tactical deployments of Imperial forces to strategically insignificant worlds continue on Jedha, Patriim, Eadu, Horuz, and twelve others of note. Frequent communications blackouts make analysis of these deployments exceedingly difficult, and we strongly suspect our list is neither accurate nor complete. Nonetheless, we know that a majority of the worlds in question contain facilities for resource harvesting, manufacturing, or scientific research and development."
- ―Mon Mothma, in her personal files
The Patriim system was a remote star system[5] in the Outer Rim Territories'[1] Seswenna sector[2] which contained Patriim, a planet that was considered strategically insignificant.[3]
History[]
- "As ordered, I have been investigating reports that the Empire is transporting kyber crystals to Patriim, Horuz, and other remote star systems. Those investigations led me to Corulag and then to Coruscant, where I heard rumors that the Empire was concealing shipments of kyber crystals in convoys of civilian freighters. Further investigation revealed shipments were arriving on Kafrene from the direction of the Unknown Regions before being sent to an unknown destination."
- ―Cassian Andor, in a report to Airen Cracken

Alliance intelligence heard rumors from a source in the Patriim system of a asteroid dreadnought being developed.
By between 2 BBY and 1 BBY,[6] the Galactic Empire had operations in the Patriim system. A source there reported to the Rebel Alliance's intelligence branch that the Empire was working on a dreadnought that was camouflaged as a space rock. Within Alliance Intelligence, Colonel Haxen Delto wrote a report to Chief of Intelligence General Airen Cracken on rumored Imperial superweapon projects emphasising that the source inside the Patriim system to be unreliable.[4]
By 1 BBY,[7] the Empire made major tactical deployments to Patriim—as well as fifteen other locations including Eadu, Horuz, and Jedha—as part of the construction of its superweapon, the Death Star. The deployments involved frequent communications blackouts, with some of the Imperial operations sharing a set of nonstandard Imperial security protocols. The Alliance learned of these deployments,[3] including ones that the Empire was transporting kyber crystals to the Patriim and Horuz systems. Cracken ordered the rebel agent Captain Cassian Andor to investigate the reports regarding Patriim and Horuz.[5]
Andor's investigations led him to locations like Coruscant, Corulag, and the Ring of Kafrene, during which he learned of rumors that the Empire had been concealing its kyber shipments in civilian freighter convoys, some of which were passing through Kafrene to an unknown destination.[5] Alliance Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma indeed became concerned by the Imperial deployments to Patriim and the other locations, noting what the Alliance knew about them in her personal files.[3]
During the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Alliance, the Empire had a dry dock stationed in the Patriim system. After being captured by the Alliance at the planet Xorrn, the Imperial Captain Ralchio Nervi revealed that the Empire had developed a superweapon similar to the late Death Star which he believed was being constructed in the Patriim system. Nervi's captors, led by rebel Agent Nath Alico, did a reconnaissance mission to the system and found the Empire's dry docks along with some Imperial Star Destroyers. They were unable to find a superweapon, however, and collected as much information as possible before returning to Xorrn.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The Patriim system was introduced into the new Star Wars canon when it was mentioned in the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying adventure book Friends Like These.[2] The system originated in Star Wars Legends, first appearing in the fifty-first issue of Marvel Comics' 1977 Star Wars comic run, written by David Michelinie, illustrated by Walter Simonson,[8] and published on June 16, 1981.[9]
