"Growing up in the capital city of Pelek Baw, there were scores of kids. Of course, there were also scores of parents."
―Azita Cruuz[1]

Pelek Baw was the capital city of[1] the planet[2] Haruun Kal. Azita Cruuz, a human native of the world, grew up alone in the city as an orphan and encountered many other children there who still had parents. At one point, she passed through a tree-lined square of tan buildings that was full of these families as she sadly clutched a book to her chest. As an adult, Cruuz told Jedi Knight Mace Windu, also a native of Haruun Kaal, about Pelek Baw when he asked if his memory of Haruun Kaal having lots of children was correct while the pair traveled together[1] by 48 BBY.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

In the current Star Wars canon, Pelek Baw appeared in a flashback in the third issue of the 2024 comic book miniseries Star Wars: Mace Windu. The issue was written by Marc Bernardin, illustrated by Georges Jeanty, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on April 17, 2024.[4] The city originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in Matthew Stover's 2003 novel, Shatterpoint.[5]

  3. Mace Windu 3 establishes its events take place prior to Mace Windu's entry into the Jedi High Council. Master & Apprentice establishes that Windu is part of the Jedi Council at the time of Nim Pianna's death, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 48 BBY. Therefore, the events of Mace Windu 3 must take place by that year.
