Pi-Lippa was an alien enslaver who acquired the enslaved Human female Shmi Skywalker as property for a period of time[4] between 72 BBY and 41 BBY.[1] Pi-Lippa was a kind individual[5] who went out of her way to teach Skywalker technical skills[4] and promised to grant her freedom.[5] Unfortunately for Skywalker,[4] Pi-Lippa died unexpectedly before fulfilling her promise,[2] devastating the Human.[4]
The inheritors of Pi-Lippa's estate chose not to honor her commitment to Skywalker's freedom,[4] and the Human was sold to a relative of Pi-Lippa,[2] who did not want to grant Skywalker's freedom.[6] The skills that Pi-Lippa taught Skywalker increased her value to her later enslavers,[7] and she continued to apply them in her daily life[2] on the planet[8] Tatooine.[2] Skywalker was eventually freed after being purchased by the moisture farmer Cliegg Lars, who also married her.[5]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The Official Star Wars Fact File 70 (SHM 1-4: Shmi Skywalker) establishes that Shmi Skywalker was enslaved as an infant and was acquired by Pi-Lippa as property until Pi-Lippa's death, which took place prior to the birth of Skywalker's son, Anakin Skywalker. According to The Official Star Wars Fact File 140 (FAM 1-2: Skywalker Family Tree), Shmi was born in 72 BBY and Anakin was born 41 BBY. Therefore, Pi-Lippa must have died in between those years.
