The Pii system was an Outer Rim Territories star system in Arkanis sector near the Mid Rim border. It centered on a red giant and contained seven orbiting planets and two separate asteroid belts.
The system was sold to a Corulag entrepreneur when preliminary mining expeditions were fruitless, but eventually developed a profitable industry centered on the logging and export of luxury greel wood from the planets Pii III and Pii IV.
History[]
At some point between 1 ABY and 2 ABY,[3] the Habassan convoy Jess sent a distress signal while under attack by Imperial Gunboats[4]—two from GUN Mu and two from GUN Nu[5]—near Pii II. After the Rebel Alliance received the signal,[4] Admiral[6] Gial Ackbar briefed four pilots of Red Squadron on the situation, being the only available forces.[4] He[6] then dispatched the four pilots in A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters. The squadron departed the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser the Defiance and jumped to hyperspace, travelling to the Pii system.[4]
Red Squadron emerged from hyperspace with the convoy between them and the four Gunboats. As Keyan Farlander, a Rebel pilot of Red Squadron, assessed the situation, eight more Gunboats arrived—four from Rho group and four from Tau group.[5]

- ↑ The New Essential Chronology establishes that Operation Ram's Head took place "over the next year," approximately one year after the Battle of Yavin, which the book places in 0 BBY. Thus, Operation Ram's Head must take place between 1 ABY and 2 ABY. As Star Wars: X-Wing Tour of Duty: B-Wing takes place afterward and before the Rebel Alliance established Echo Base on Hoth, which The New Essential Chronology places between 2 ABY and 3 ABY, the events of the game, including the attack on a TIE staging area, must take place between 1 ABY at the earliest and 2 ABY at the latest.
