"I only know the general location of where it might be found. However, I have heard that many treasures can be found in a pirate hideout."
Demitri Firewatcher, to a spacer[2]

The Pirate Bunker was a bunker located on the planet Naboo and controlled by a group of pirates during the Galactic Civil War.

History[]

"Please send help. These pirates are holding several members of the royal family and intend to execute them if their ransom is not met. They believe their base is still secret."
―A transmission picked up on Naboo emergency frequencies[3]

The Pirate Bunker was located in an isolated area of the Gallo Mountains, on the Mid Rim world of Naboo.[1] The building was deserted until the pirates decided to inhabit it and used it as their headquarters.[4]

Prisoners held inside the Pirate Bunker

After the Battle of Yavin, the pirates kidnapped several Naboo noble all over the planet and kept them prisoners in the bunker for ransom.[4] People captured included Demitri Firewatcher's master,[2] Hanna S'kiyah's sister,[5] and even several members of the royal family.[3]

In 1 ABY,[6] Demitri Firewatcher solicited the help of a spacer while he was in the city of Keren. He asked the the spacer rescue his master. Firewatcher used rumors of treasure in the bunker to further catch the spacer's interest. The spacer agreed to rescue the prisoners, and Firewatcher recommended that a group be formed to overwhelm the more numerous pirates.[2] In the meantime, Hanna S'kiyah also begged a spacer to rescue her sister from the bunker.[5] A spacer also met a man known as Ketter Yaaran in the Kaadara cantina to get information about the pirates and their bunker.[4]

The same year, Jabba the Hutt's bounty hunter Bronell dispatched a spacer to the pirate bunker in order to retrieve information about a CorSec officer who owned money to Jabba, as well as to the pirates.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

The Pirate Bunker was a location in the 2003 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided,[1] prior to the game's closure on December 15, 2011.[8] The Pirate Bunker was added to the game with the update named "Publish 1," released on August 3, 2003.[9]

  6. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
