- "I must say, it's an honor to have the pirate queen in my hideout."
- ―Tjepo Juibop, to Maz Kanata
A Pirate King, Pirate Queen,[4] pirate queen,[6] or pirate monarch,[7] was a term given to some pirate leaders with enough influence. During the Clone Wars, Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka was referred to as a pirate king.[1][2] Maz Kanata was also recognized as a pirate queen by many individuals including Tjepo Juibop,[5] and her castle's rules were greatly respected by all due to this status.[6] Gorian Shard was also recognized as a pirate king among the Nevarro, including by High Magistrate Greef Karga, who despite taking out his henchmen still respected his power.[3]
