A Point-defense laser cannon, also called a Point-Defense Battery, was a type of starship laser cannon weapons emplacement specifically designed to destroy incoming missiles, objects, torpedoes, or even fighters. The Venator-class Star Destroyer had fifty-two of such weapons,[1] the Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought had twenty-six such cannons,[4] and the MC85 Star Cruiser had a total of twelve point-defense turrets.[4]
