Pontite crystals, simply known as pontite, were a type of kyber crystal found on the icy planet Ilum and in the caverns on Ossus, used in the construction of a Jedi's lightsaber.
Description[]
Pontite, along with mephite, were discovered on Ilum by Jedi survey teams thousands of years before the Galactic Empire's formation. It was also one of the rare crystals that can be found in the caverns on Ossus. Greelwood Saber used rare pontite crystal.[1] Helical HyperCom used pontite crystals in their production of comm devices, and Galen Walton Erso, who worked at their company, suggested that they use synthesized relacite instead to halve production costs and double bandwidth.[2]
