A power wrench was a type of wrench that could be used in the maintenance of vehicles.[1] In 32 BBY,[3] one of the podracer Ody Mandrell's DUM-series pit droid maintenance team was carrying a power wrench when Mandrell pulled in for a pit stop at the Mos Espa Grand Arena during the second lap of the Boonta Eve Classic race on the planet Tatooine.[2]
The droid carrying the wrench approached Mandrell in the podracer's cockpit, but before the team could begin repairs, their colleague DUM-4 was sucked into one of the engines of Manderell's podracer, destroying the engine and preventing the racer from further participating in the race.[2]

A power wrench first appeared in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[2] In the new Star Wars canon, the tool was first identified in the 2016 reference book Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the power wrench first appeared in the 1976 novelization of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which was written by Alan Dean Foster.[4]
