- "It looks like Poggle was on a direct course, headed directly for the Progate Temple."
- ―Luminara Unduli
The Progate Temple was a temple located on Geonosis. Its catacombs were inhabited by Geonosian queen Karina the Great and her hive during the Clone Wars, until the temple's destruction by Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Luminara Unduli, and a clone squad of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Second Battle of Geonosis.
History[]
Located amidst Geonosis deserts, the ancient Progate Temple housed Geonosian Queen Karina the Great and her horde of undead Geonosian warriors, reanimated by parasitic brain worms. During the Clone Wars, a second battle between the Confederacy of Independent Systems (of which Geonosis was one of the most important members) and Galactic Republic took place.[1] During the conflict, the Progate Temple was a site of heavy bombardment by Republic forces.[1]
After his primary droid foundry was destroyed, the Geonosian Confederate leader, Poggle the Lesser, fled to Progate Temple in order to evade capture by the Grand Army of the Republic. Jedi Master and General Luminara Unduli and clone trooper Buzz followed Poggle into it, only to be attacked by Karina's warriors upon arrival. During the struggle, Buzz died whereas Unduli was taken hostage and brought into the catacombs below to Karina.[1]
Once a sandstorm had passed, fellow Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and a squad of clone troopers flew to the Progate Temple and entered its catacombs to find Unduli. As they entered, they were swarmed by the undead Geonosians; nonetheless, they found Unduli, Poggle and Queen Karina. After an attempt to negotiate her release, Karina's refusal prompted them to shoot the temple's support, rescue the Mirialan Jedi Master, and capture Poggle. They barely escaped seconds before the Progate Temple caved in, burying Karina.[1]
The Republic set up a Forward Command Center by the wreckage of the temple, and several members of Tango Company took a nap by the temple, but a surviving brain worm took control of clone trooper Scythe. The controlled trooper brought the brain worms to the Pelta-class frigate TB-73, leading to a skirmish with Jedi Padawans Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee.[2]
