The Propaganda Bureau was a department of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Civil Government, which rose in the wake of the Galactic Civil War. It was headed by the artist Janyor of Bith.[1]
The journalists, illustrators, and other strategists of the Bureau sought to undo the damage of Imperial propaganda, which portrayed the Alliance as a terrorist organization. They notably distributed over twenty thousand recordings showing telemetry of the destruction of the Death Star over Yavin 4, thus encouraging worlds to create their own messages of rebellion using those images as a basis.[1]
As the war against the Rebellion continued, the Rebel Alliance found its strength in disseminating anti-Imperial messaging in Imperial Academies. Rebel tactics of appealing to people's moral consciousness ran directly counter to the psychological underpinning of Imperial training, which deemphasized the individual.[1]
