Warning: This infobox has missing parameters: runtime and unrecognized parameters: era "Property of Ezra Bridger" (previously titled "Not What You Think") is the fourth and final prelude short released in promotion of the animated series Star Wars Rebels.[2] The three-minute short aired on Disney XD and was released online on September 1, 2014.

Publisher's summary

Ezra finds a downed TIE fighter on the plains of Lothal. The young rebel opens the ship's hatch -- pretending to help the ungrateful Imperial pilot -- and leaves with a few souvenirs.

Plot summary

Lothal orphan Ezra Bridger witnesses a battle in the skies overhead between the starship Ghost and a TIE fighter of the Galactic Empire. After the TIE fighter is shot down and crashes to the ground, Bridger rushes to the wrecked ship and finds that its cockpit hatch will not open, leaving Baron Valen Rudor trapped inside. Bridger eventually opens the hatch, but the TIE fighter pilot shows no gratitude for being saved and instead angrily rebukes Bridger for touching his ship.

To teach the arrogant pilot a lesson, Bridger steals several components from the TIE fighter, including the pilot's flight helmet. Angered further, Rudor opens fire on Bridger with the TIE fighter's laser cannons, but Bridger incapacitates Rudor with his energy slingshot. Rudor's helmet now belongs to Bridger.

Continuity

This short was adapted into a short story by Michael Kogge in the chapter book Rise of the Rebels, the young-readers book Ezra and the Pilot, and the junior novel Ezra's Gamble.

Title discrepancy

Upon its release, various official sites had conflicting titles for the short. StarWars.com and the official Star Wars YouTube channel listed the short as "Not What You Think," while Disney.com and Disney XD listed the short as "Property of Ezra Bridger." The issue was later corrected, and the short was universally named "Property of Ezra Bridger."
