Quermians were a gaunt, long-necked humanoid sentient species native to the planet Quermia. They had two brains, one located inside their head and the other within their chest cavity, and two pairs of arms. Society and culture

Some Quermians, such as Jedi Master Yarael Poof, preferred to conceal their second set of arms beneath clothing,[4] and traditionally wore cannom collars.[8]

Quermians in the galaxy

Native to[4] the Outer Rim[9] world of Quermia,[4] four Quermians were members of the Jedi Order during the Trade Federation's Invasion of Naboo, the most senior of which being Jedi Master Yarael Poof. A revered member of the Jedi Council, he was a celebrated diplomat and teacher,[2] and an expert practitioner of Jedi mind tricks and illusions.[7]

Senator Nim Tar of the New Republic was a Quermian.[5]

Behind the scenes

Quermians first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[1] Although never identified on screen, the species was first identified in Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, a 1999 Star Wars Legends reference book written by David West Reynolds.[10] The species' name was confirmed to be canon by Star Wars: Card Trader, an app released on iOS and Android platforms by The Topps Company, Inc. in 2015.[2]
