Quermians were a guant, long-necked humanoid sentient species native to the planet Quermia. They had two brains, one located inside their head and the other within their chest cavity, and two pairs of arms. During the Invasion of Naboo, only four Quermians were enrolled in the Jedi Order, one of whom was Jedi Master Yarael Poof, a member of the Jedi High Council.

Biology and appearance

Quermians were a willowy[3] humanoid[2] sentient species that had pasty white skin and red eyes, which were located in a bulbous head with a small mouth that was located on top of a craning neck.[1] They had two brains,[3] one located in their head and the other inside their chest cavity.[4] They were notable for their towering statue,[3] and an average Quermian stood over three feet taller than most other humanoids.[2] Quermians had two sets of thin arms[3] with hands that terminated in several long fingers, and a pair of legs that ended in large three-toed feet.[1]

Society and culture

Some Quermians, such as Jedi Master Yarael Poof, preferred to conceal their second set of arms beneath clothing.[3]

Quermians in the galaxy

Native to the planet Quermia,[3] four Quermians were members of the Jedi Order during the Invasion of Naboo, the most senior of which being Jedi Master Yarael Poof. A revered member of the Jedi Council, he was a celebrated dimplomat and teacher,[2] and an expert practitioner of Jedi mind tricks and illusions.[4]

Behind the scenes

Quermians first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[1] Although never identified on screen, the species was first identified in Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, a 1999 Star Wars Legends reference book written by David West Reynolds.[5] The species' name was confirmed to be canon by Star Wars: Card Trader, an app released on iOS and Android platforms by The Topps Company, Inc. in 2015.[2]

Despite being a member of the Xexto species,[6] Ferpil Wallaway bears a striking resemblance to a Quermian,[7] who—in the non-canon Star Wars Legends continuity—were a species of genetically modified Xexto.[8] However, any canon connection between the two species has yet to be confirmed.
