"My Circlings have seen the flying cities, black against the stars."
―The Queen of the Red, referring to the Admonitor[2]

The Quethold system was located in the Unknown Regions[1] and contained several stars and the terrestrial planet Quethold. The latter was the homeworld of the Quesoth species, members of which spoke the languages known as Quesoth Common Speak and Quesoth Soldier Speak.[2]

At some point after Empire of the Hand Grand Admiral Thrawn's[2] battle against the alien warlord Nuso Esva in the Poln system[3] of the Outer Rim Territories[4] in 0 ABY,[5] the former's flagship, the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Admonitor, traveled to Quethold. It blockaded the planet in order to prevent Esva, who had allied himself with Quethold's reigning Queen of the Red, from escaping. After defeating the warlord's forces[2] in 8 ABY,[6] Thrawn's warship left[2] the system[1] for the Chaos Triangle with the goal of dealing with what the Grand Admiral referred to as Esva's "legacy."[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The planet Quethold, and therefore its star system, appeared in Timothy Zahn's 2011 novella Crisis of Faith, published within the 20th Anniversary Edition of the 1991 novel Heir to the Empire.[2] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, subsequently named the system and placed it in grid square I-5.[1]
