Hedji, a Spiner, firing quills from his arm.
Quills were sharp spines that could be produced by various species, including the humanoid Spiners[1] and the octopus-like twenchok.[2] Spiners could produce them rapidly, and suitably trained members of the species could fling them at opponents several times per day.[3] Twenchok could similarly fire their quills as a defense mechanism, discharging them singly or in volleys.[2]
Vagh Rodiek, warbeasts bioengineered by the Yuuzhan Vong from Rodians, replaced the head spines characteristic of Rodians with quills.[4]
