R1-D1[4] was a masculine[3] Lothal astromech droid[1] who belonged to an Ugnaught salesman on Lothal several years before the Battle of Yavin. The salesman and the astromech droid were confronted by Imperial stormtroopers in the streets of Lothal, but they were rescued by Garazeb Orrelios, a member of the Spectres.[2]
