R3-B0017 was an R3-series astromech droid that was programmed to scavenge[1] the planet[2] Dathomir and serve[1] the Dathomirian Zabrak[3] Darth Maul. The droid was equipped with green durasteel plating.[1]
The droid was equipped with a red sensor, a primary photoreceptor, radar eyes, a Herner optical holographic projector, a Burtt acoustic signaler, a processor state indicator, system ventilation, a hi-power recharge coupling, hydraulic arm shafts, a heat exhaust, a cargo compartment, system lubricant filter reservoirs, and an accentuating coupler.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- "[R3-B0017 is] a nod to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes that feature green mist that swirls through the air on Dathomir"
- ―Cody Hampton, senior merchandiser of Disney Parks
R3-B0017 was sold at Disney Parks in September and October of 2017 for a Halloween-themed exclusive toy as part of the Star Wars: Droid Factory toy line. It was mostly made of green, "glow in the dark" plastic, which was based of the green mist from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes set on Dathomir. A similarly-named Halloween-themed droid, R2-B00, was released in 2016.[4]
