- "Wizard!"
- ―Ram Jomaram
Ram Jomaram was a human[3] male Jedi Padawan who lived in the Valo Temple, on the planet Valo, during the High Republic Era.[8] Ram discovered Nihil sabotage at Valo's communications tower prior to the Nihil attack on Valo and tried to warn the other Jedi on that planet, but was unable to warn them in time to prevent the attack.
After Valo was later invaded by the Nihil and placed behind their Stormwall within the Occlusion Zone, Jomaram began operating as a[7] masked vigilante[4] known as the "Scarlet Skull" in attempt to fight back against the Nihil.[7] The Jedi younglings Gavi, Kildo, and Tep Tep spent months hiding in the planet's mountains and were bolstered by the rumors of Jomaram's acts, which they considered brave, and decided to return to Lonisa City.[4]
Biography[]
Valo[]
Ram Jomaram lived on Valo and was the Jedi Padawan of Kunpar Vasivola. During the preparations for the Republic Fair, Jomaram investigated a malfunction at Crashpoint Tower, where he discovered Nihil fleeing the scene. He went to the Valo Temple to warn the other Jedi, but he was mistaken for an intruder and arrested by Idrax Snat of the Valo Security Force. Jomaram used a mind trick on Snat in order to send a message to Starlight Beacon warning about the Nihil's sabotage, but he was then placed in a detention center by Snat. Also imprisoned there were Ty Yorrick and Mantessa Chekkat. As the Nihil began their attack on the fair, Jomaram and Yorrick worked together to escape their cells.[1]
Jomaram met Lula Talisola, who had come to Valo in response to Jomaram's message. The two rode toward Crashpoint Tower on Jomaram's modified droid V-18, until the droid was damaged by Nihil blasterfire and the Padawans had to continue on foot. They were rescued from more Nihil by Ty Yorrick riding a sanval. The Padawans joined Zeen Mrala to ride a sanval to Crashpoint Tower, which they discovered had been taken over by a group of Drengir.[1]
The group landed on the tower and did battle with the Drengir and the Nihil. Jomaram realized that the Nihil had brought the Drengir there and had made a deal with them. He and Mrala convinced the Drengir that the Nihil's promise of living meat was a lie, since the Nihil were killing the inhabitants of Valo. The Drengir turned on the Nihil and helped Jomaram and Talisola destroy their ships. The Drengir fled in a remaining Nihil ship, and Jomaram was able to repair the tower's communications using parts from V-18.[1]
Jomaram, Talisola, and Mrala headed back into the city to lead survivors of the attack to the Jedi temple. They saw Yorrick on her sanval being attacked by scav droids. Jomaram flew up on V-18, grabbed one of the droids, and modified it to send a signal to the other droids to flee. Yorrick thanked the Padawan for his assistance.[9]
Takodana[]
After the Valo Atrocity, Jomaram traveled to Starlight Beacon along with Talisola, Mrala, and V-18. He met Talisola's friends and fellow Padawans Qort and Farzala Tarabal, as well as Hutt Clan security officer Ishnar Ti-Kharatal. They all attended a briefing held by Jedi Masters Torban Buck and Kantam Sy, where they were assigned a mission to aid the Jedi outpost on Takodana against attacks by a Nihil cell led by Krix Kamerat.[10] Arriving on Takodana, the Jedi and Mrala met the pirate queen Maz Kanata and the sole Jedi stationed at Takodana's temple, Sav Malagán. While Buck and Sy scouted the forest, Jomaram and the others entered the temple to help prepare for another Nihil attack. Nihil member Sabata Krill, who had claimed to be a defector, set off an explosive in the temple.[11] Jomaram and the others survived the temple's collapse, and Qort, whose helmet had been broken, defeated the returning Nihil ships. Jomaram, Talisola, Tarabal, and Mrala were surprised to see Qort with his face bare, but they all embraced him in a hug.[12]
Back on Starlight[]
On Starlight Beacon, Master Torban Buck was preparing to bake sweet story custard cake and told Jomaram to disinfect the kitchen and clear out Cham Cham and the Bonbraks. Porter Engle asked about the most important ingredient of the cakes, which Jomaram guessed was lard, but which Engle said was the story to be told while baking. Jomaram listened while Buck and Kantam Sy told a story of their participation in the rescue efforts during the Great Hyperspace Disaster, then partook in the finished cakes.[13]
Later, Jomaram was present as Buck and Sy announced the Great Jedi Rumble Race. Jomaram asked if he could ride his modified droid V-18, and Buck emphasized that there were no rules. Jomaram began the race along with several other Padawans and other participants. He flew on V-18 until two other young Jedi tangled him and the droid in a cloth. Continuing the race on foot, Jomaram passed by Stellan Gios, Emerick Caphtor, and Sian Holt, greeting the trio as he ran by. Jomaram neared the finish line at the same time as many of the other racers, but Master Buck used a Force push to knock the group over and claim first place himself. Jomaram objected that Buck had been cheering them on during the race, and Buck said that he was cheering for second place.[14]
Personality and traits[]
Jomaram had a big heart and favored being in a garage surrounded by tools, mechanical parts, and Bonbraks.[8] Ram loved performing repairs and assembling machines, and considered it a form of meditation.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
Jomaram was a natural mechanic but his lightsaber technique was lacking.[8] Nonetheless, he could deflect blasterfire with his lightsaber. He could also use telekinesis to disassemble machines. He could sense emotions through the Force and was capable of using a mind trick, albeit imperfectly.[1]
Equipment[]
Ram Jomaram wielded a yellow-bladed lightsaber and carried a tool kit.[1]
