"I'd like you to meet Commander Colt of the Rancor Battalion."
―Bric[1]

Rancor Battalion was a clone trooper military battalion of the Grand Army of the Republic. Among its ranks were elite Advanced Recon Commandos, including Clone Commanders Blitz, Colt, Hammer, and Havoc. Early in the Clone Wars, the battalion's ARC troopers oversaw the training of clone cadets on the planet Kamino.

Rancor Corps had at least four Advanced Recon CommandosClone Marshall Commanders Blitz,[2] Colt, Hammer,[1] and Havoc.[3] The battalion consisted of Advanced Recon Force troopers that were identified by the maroon and grayish-blue markings on their helmets as well as some having maroon lines on their arms. The ARC troopers each customized their ARC trooper armor, with Colt and Hammer customizing it in red and gray color schemes, Havoc customizing it in blue markings, and Blitz in yellow and gray.[1] Members of Rancor Battalion used DC-15A blaster rifles, and at least one RPS-6 rocket launcher.[4] As a battalion in the Grand Army of the Republic, Rancor Battalion[1] was made up of four companies that contained 576 troopers.[6]

The Rancor Battalion was a battalion in the Grand Army of the Republic active during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance.[1] Prior to the defense of Rishi Station,[7] Rancor Battalion was stationed on the planet Kamino where its four Advanced Recon Commandos oversaw the final phases of clone trooper training alongside Jedi General Shaak Ti, Master Chief Bric, and El-Les.[1]

Rancor Battalion was again stationed on Kamino and participated in the Battle of Kamino. Clone ARC Commanders Hammer and Havoc defended the main hangars in Tipoca City and led other clone troopers, while Clone ARC Commander Colt fought near the barracks. ARC Commander Blitz led a trio of ARF troopers in the outside walkways of the city. Eventually, Republic forces prevailed, and members of Rancor Battalion were present in the aftermath and cleanup.[4] Later,[5] in 20 BBY,[8] after a series of devastating groundquakes impacted the planet Aleen, a Republic Navy contingent was diverted from their route to block the annexation of the Qiilura system to conduct a mercy mission to Aleen to deliver relief supplies and bring their systems back online.[5]

Mercy Mission to Aleen[]

At least three ARF troopers of the Rancor Battalion were stationed in the hangar bay of the Acclamator-class assault ship, and one of them loaded their All Terrain Reconnaissance Transports inside an All Terrain Tactical Enforcer while members of the 104th Battalion boarded LAAT/i gunships. The ARF trooper accompanied their comrades from the 104th in assisting the Aleena. Protocol droid C-3PO and astromech droid R2-D2, who took part in assisting the Aleena, were found by 104th clone troopers and one of Rancor's ARF troopers aboard an AT-RT after they were briefly missing when they fell into the Aleen Underworld. After the relief mission was complete, the ARF trooper of Rancor Battalion loaded their walker into the AT-TE and was carried off.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

Rancor Battalion first appeared in "Clone Cadets," the first episode of the third season of the animated TV-series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.[1]
