A plaza square was located in the city of Raxulon on Raxus Secundus, capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] In 19 BBY,[4] a crowd of wealthy Separatist supporters gathered in the plaza square to hear Confederate leader Count Dooku speak as part of a gala held in honor of him receiving the Raxian Humanitarian Award.[1] After the Separatists' defeat at the end of the Clone Wars, Raxus fell under the control of the Galactic Empire,[3] and citizens stood in the square while Imperial Captain Bragg and Senator Avi Singh spoke to the masses.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The plaza square appeared in the 2015 novel Dark Disciple, written by Christie Golden and adapted from an unfinished eight-episode story arc for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, written by Katie Lucas, Matt Michnovetz, and Dave Filoni.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Clone Wars Legacy on the official Star Wars YouTube channel (backup link) (Posted on StarWars.com) showcases Count Dooku speaking from a Raxulon balcony, which is identical to the Raxulon balcony seen in "Common Ground." Dooku's speech was adapted into the novel Dark Disciple, which identifies the area before the balcony as Raxulon's plaza square. As "Common Ground" depicts this area and shows the balcony to be part of the Separatist Senate Building, both locations must have appeared in the episode.
  3. 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The Bad Batch — "Common Ground"
  4. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Character Encyclopedia - Join the Battle! dates the plot to assassinate Count Dooku to 19 years before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places the film's events in 0 BBY, the plot to assassinate Dooku—as well as the gala on Raxus—must have taken place in 19 BBY.
