The Raxus Address was a speech given by the former Jedi Count Dooku[1] in 24 BBY[2] that was credited with essentially setting the stage for the Separatist Movement. Dooku commandeered a HoloNet relay station in the Raxus system[3] and denounced the Galactic Republic as a futile enterprise that was hopelessly burdened by corruption and favoritism toward the Core Worlds. Following the address, Dooku founded the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the ensuing Separatist Crisis would eventually lead to the Clone Wars.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Raxus Address was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon, albeit unidentified, in the 2014 novel Tarkin written by James Luceno and published by Del Rey.[3] It was later first identified in the canon continuity in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] The Address was originally created for the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the article "Dooku Spotted in Gree Enclave" in the 2002 web post HoloNet News Vol. 531 #54.[5] Star Wars: Timelines dated the Raxus Address to circa 24 BBY.[4] However, Rise of the Separatists had previously concretely established it to be in 24 BBY proper by placing it two years before the Clone Wars.[2]
