A model of high-encryption long-range comlink was manufactured by RazBohan during the Republic Era. Several months before the First Battle of Geonosis which began the Clone Wars, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker modified a pair of the comlinks he and his Master, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, were using on a mission to Taris due to the nearby sector's propensity for ion storms. After Skywalker's promotion to the rank of Knight, he gave one of the comlinks to Kenobi, then a Master on the Jedi High Council, for use as an emergency communicator on a mission to Cato Neimoidia where Kenobi was forbidden to be in contact with the Council or the Galactic Republic, along with a phrik alloy case to conceal it in.[1]
