Redline was the call sign of the Commander of Black Eight Squadron, succeeding Juno Eclipse after her reassignment by Lord Darth Vader following the Bombing of Callos.
Biography[]
Redline used excess violence while flying and while Captain Eclipse was leader of the Squadron often disciplined him, mentioning him as "psychopathic" in her logs.[1]
He flew under her during the Bombardment of Callos, during which Eclipse protested that maintaining the bombardment after reaching their objective would amount to genocide. Vader told her to disable Callos's planetary reactor as an alternative. However the precision strike made the reactor to spew pollutants into the planet's biosphere, triggering a chain reaction. Even after the disaster, three pilots, including Redline, complained for withdrawing from the defenseless planet before finishing the genocide.[1]
In Juno's experience Redline was the coldest, cruelest, least considerate being she had ever flown with. These were the traits appreciated for the ruthless doctrine followed by the Squadron, and after Eclipse was reassigned (presumably considered too sensitive), Redline succeeded her as leader of the Squadron.[1]
He was also active during the Galactic Civil War, and at one point entered a dogfight with two X-wings while piloting a TIE/IT Interdictor starfighter, where he proceeded to fire homing missiles at both Rebel pilots.
