Reece Tallent

Reece Tallent was a human male soldier who fought the Galactic Empire as part of Saw Gerrera's extremist movement.

Biography[]

A human male, Reece Tallent was a young man when he started fighting against the Galactic Empire. While he had his own crew, which consisted of three other humans and a Lasat, Tallent was paid to work for Saw Gerrera, the leader of the Partisans. On occasion, he and his crew stayed with Gerrera at his outpost on the planet Wrea.^[1]

Although Tallent and his crew were known to be obnoxious, with many looking forward to their departure from the Wrea outpost, Gerrera, while he acknowledged Tallent to be thickheaded, also thought him to be a useful ally. Tallent did not get along with Jyn Erso, who Gerrera was the caretaker of. At one point, Tallent and Jyn exchanged verbal barbs, leading to Gerrera to prompt them to take their quarrel outside. Tallent confidently prepared for the fight, and when Gerrera reminded them not to hurt each other, Tallent cockily promised that he would be gentle, only for Gerrera to tell him that he was primarily talking to Jyn. Tallent was eventually bested, which caused him great humiliation.^[1]

Tallent and his men helped Gerrera monitor Imperial activities, particularly in the Outer Rim Territories. They tracked Imperial shipments to important factories in search of connections. Over the course of the next year, Tallent's men began to work directly with Gerrera, leaving him without a crew. Tallent began to realize that he himself could benefit from Gerrera's training and put aside his pride to come to Wrea to hone his skills. He was one of a few recruits that survived Gerrera's harsh training. In time, he became one of Gerrera's fervent supporters.^[1]

At one point, Gerrera decided to frame one of the Partisans, Jari, for treason, with the intent on ejecting him from the group. However, his true motivations were to protect Jyn, who was put at risk when Jari discovered that she was the daughter of Galen Erso, an acclaimed Imperial scientist that the Partisans had been monitoring. Tallent joined Jari, Jyn, and Gerrera on a trip to an Imperial-occupied planet where Gerrera presented Jari as the traitor. Tallent helped Gerrera subdue the Togruta, binding him with plastoid ties and gagging him before turning him over to the Empire.^[1]

Over time, Tallent became one of Gerrera's trusted regulars from the older group of Partisans. However, Tallent's loyalty did not last. After discovering Jyn's connection to Galen Erso, Reece betrayed Gerrera, taking the opportunity to organize a trap during their Mission to Tamsye Prime. He pretended to have a contact on Coruscant and told Gerrera that they could infiltrate the factories on Tamyse Prime under the guise of a film crew. During the mission, Tallent posed as the leader of their crew and eventually turned over Gerrera and Jyn to Lieutenant Colonel Senjax.^[1]

However, their capture of Gerrera and Jyn did not last as the two managed to fight off Senjax, Reece, and other Stormtroopers, with Saw disarming a trooper and stunning Reece due to the trooper's blaster being set to stun. Later, Reece regains consiousness as the ceiling of the building they were in collapsed. With Saw suffering moderate chemical burns and cuts from the debris to shield and protect Jyn, Reece momentarily helped Jyn as she pleads for him to help. However, Reece began fleeing when the the broken Saw became more consious and recalled his betrayal. Despite his wounds, he managed to catch Reece and pin him down with some assistance from Codo. There, Saw got his vengance by using his knife to inflict a deep cut onto Reece's face and then jammed the knife into his shoulder, giving him a similar shoulder wound Saw was inflicted from the debris earlier before escaping from the building. Reece lied on the group, whimpering with a deep shoulder wound on the ground.^[1]

Personality and traits[]

Reece Tallent was a human male with light brown hair and blue eyes. He spoke with an accent that was similar to Gerrera's, suggesting he may have been from Onderon. Tallent and the people in his crew were immature and obnoxious. They would recklessly joke around during target practice and wildly fire at the droid targets until they were completely destroyed. He did not think highly of the Jedi, seeing them as not powerful enough to survive.^[1]

Tallent notably did not get along with Jyn Erso. Their poor dynamic started when Tallent made comments to Gerrera about Galen Erso cooperating with the Empire, comments he did not know would impact Jyn, as she believed he would never willingly cooperate with the Empire. Tallent was unaware of Jyn being Galen's daughter for some time. Jyn glared at Tallent whenever she saw him, and Tallent returned the disdain. Eventually the two would fight it out, with Tallent feeling humiliation upon losing.^[1]
