Republic City[4] was a megalopolis and the capital of Hosnian Prime.[2] It was the seat of power of the New Republic, as the planet served as the duly-elected capital of the New Republic Senate during the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance.[5] Republic City was destroyed with the rest of the planet when the First Order turned its superweapon, Starkiller Base, towards Hosnian Prime in an effort to eliminate the Republic from the galaxy.[1]
