Republic Commando, alternatively titled the Republic Commando series and the Republic Commando novels, was a multimedia project launched around the video game Star Wars: Republic Commando that was released in 2005. It primarily consisted of a series of novels by Karen Traviss focusing on members of the clone commandos of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. A second game, entitled Star Wars: Imperial Commando, was originally planned but was cancelled before it reached development. Similarly, Traviss's planned Imperial Commando series of novels was cancelled after its first entry, Imperial Commando: 501st.
