The Republic Correctional Authority, abbreviated to RCA, was an organization within the Galactic Republic that was charged with detaining criminals deemed too dangerous for local law enforcement agencies. It also held individuals who were in violation of Republic law, and was staffed by specially trained agents from the Republic Security Force.[1]

However, following the outbreak of the Clone Wars against the Separatist Alliance, the Republic Correctional Authority had replaced their agents with clone shock troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic and began to hold prisoners of war. The organization also maintained and operated several prisons throughout the galaxy, which included prison stations located within deep space and mobile prison ships. Critics of these facilities also made note of their luxurious accomodations at low-level bases as being delicate on corporate crimes.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Republic Correctional Authority was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] The Republic Correctional Authority originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter,[2] a 2002[3] video game developed and published by LucasArts.[2]
