Rhigar was a snowy planet located within the Unknown Regions' Rata Nebula and the Rhigar system controlled by the Chiss Ascendancy's Nuruodo family.[1] It was orbited by three moons: Rhigar's forested moon, Asdroni, and Rhigar 3.[2] The site of the Syndic Mitth'raw'nuruodo training academy,[3] the snowy celestial body was where Ascendancy and Empire of the Hand military personnel were trained for service under Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who was also known by his core name "Thrawn."[2]

Rhigar[1] appeared, albeit unnamed, in the 2001 short story Red Sky, Blue Flame, which was written by Elaine Cunningham and published within the seventh issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine.[2] It was first identified as Rhigar by the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[1]
