- "A parasite. Native to Ringo Vinda. Probably in the canteen of water they both shared. It did cause the inhibitors to decay, once the parasite had taken hold."
- ―Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's "official" explanation of the erratic behaviors of CT-5555 and CT-5385
Ringo Vinda was a planet[2] found in the Ringo Vinda system, within the Eucer sector of the galaxy's Mid Rim.[1] An important industrial production center, it was encircled by a massive space station that served as a distribution point for all incoming and outgoing resources.
History[]
By 20 BBY, the third year of the Clone Wars,[3] Ringo Vinda space station[5] was controlled by Admiral Trench of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] During the Battle of Ringo Vinda,[3] clone trooper CT-5385 executed Jedi Master Tiplar when Protocol 66 was accidentally triggered in his inhibitor chip, forcing the Galactic Republic to withdraw and leave the world under Separatist control.[2] Officially, CT-5385's mental instability was said to be caused by a rare Ringo Vindan parasite[3] that caused his inhibitor to decay, and a vaccine was prepared to inoculate the other clones and prevent similar incidents in the future, hiding the true nature of Order 66.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Battle for Ringo Vinda! Republic forces are locked in heated combat with the droid armada on a massive space station that encircles an entire planet."
- ―Ringo Vinda was identified in "The Unknown"'s opening newsreel
Ringo Vinda first appeared in "The Unknown,"[2] the first episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' sixth season,[6] which originally aired in Germany on February 15, 2014.[7][8] While unidentified in the episode itself, it was named in the opening newsreel.[2] The planet's design was derived from early concept art[9] of Cato Neimoidia[10] developed by Ryan Church during the concept design phase of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[9] The Essential Atlas Online Companion placed the Ringo Vinda system, and therefore Ringo Vinda itself, in grid square R-7.[1]
