This article is about the First Order unit. You may be looking for the Imperial jumptroopers, also known as "rocket troopers".

Rocket troopers were a stormtrooper variant in the Stormtrooper Corps of the First Order. They were equipped with SE-44C blaster pistols, Smart Rockets, pauldrons, and Jump Packs.[1] A different version of the rocket trooper was equipped with a type of control box on their chest armor and a large jetpack, rather than the smaller Jump Pack, and no pauldron.[2]

Unlike the standard trooper, who was mostly trained in ground operations, these specialists were trained in aerial combat.[1]

Rocket troopers were specialized stormtroopers of the First Order that were trained in aerial combat.[1] There were several minor variants of rocket troopers. One variant was equipped with SE-44C blaster pistols, Smart Rockets, red pauldrons, and Jump Packs.[1] Another variant was equipped with a control box on their chest armor, F-11D blaster rifles, and jetpacks.[2] A third variant was equipped with a dark colored jetpack with straps, and could operate in space environments.[3]

HistoryEdit

Rocket troopers of the First Order were specialized stormtroopers[1] that were active during the cold war between the First Order and the New Republic and Resistance. During a mission to Ovanis undertaken by Resistance Commander Poe Dameron and his Black Squadron to locate Lor San Tekka for information on Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's location. During the mission, First Order Agent Terex deployed multiple rocket troopers equipped with jetpacks and control boxes.[2] Eventually, First Order forces were defeated.[4]

Several rocket troopers of a different variant were involved in the rescue of Lor San Tekka by the Resistance in the Great Forveen Nebula, where they captured San Tekka and attempted to bring him aboard a First Order Light Cruiser, though they were eliminated by a Resistance retrieval squad.[3]

Behind the scenesEdit

The rocket trooper first appeared in Poe Dameron 1: Black Squadron, Part I, a canon comic released in 2016 and authored by Charles Soule.[2] The troopers were first identified in the 2018 video game, Star Wars Battlefront II.[1]
